Insight doesn't always create change

SACRED EMBODIMENT

You don't always need to work harder on yourself. Sometimes your nervous system needs something else.
One of the biggest misconceptions about personal growth is that more insight automatically leads to more change. It doesn't. You can understand exactly why you react the way you do. You can know where a pattern comes from, recognise it while it's happening, and still find yourself doing the same thing again. Not because you're failing. Because understanding and change are not the same thing.
We see this often in our coaching. People come to us with a great deal of self-awareness. They have done therapy, read the books, listened to the podcasts, and reflected deeply on themselves. They are not looking for another explanation of why they feel the way they do. They are looking for something that actually helps them move. The missing piece is often the nervous system.
When your nervous system perceives something as unsafe, it will naturally pull you towards what feels familiar.
That can look like procrastination, overthinking, perfectionism, people-pleasing, or avoiding difficult conversations. From the outside it can seem irrational. From the perspective of your nervous system, it makes perfect sense.
This is why simply trying harder rarely works for long. Sustainable change doesn't happen because you become better at pushing yourself. It happens when your internal experience begins to change. When your body no longer experiences the next step as a threat, choices that once felt impossible often become surprisingly accessible.
Good coaching creates clarity. It helps you explore your values, question assumptions, and uncover answers that already exist within you. Nervous system work helps you embody those answers. Together, they create the conditions for lasting change.
With warmth,
Brita
